Meet the Team: Alyssa Muyden

Who are you and what do you do?

Hi! I'm Alyssa Muyden and I'm currently working as a Design Intern at TodayTomorrow. I'm helping with various projects, focusing on improving the user experience of applications, creating a strong visual presence, and doing research. In short: a lot that has to do with UX and UI design, where I can fully express my creativity! :)

What is your favourite digital application at the moment?

I’m naturally quite organized and love having everything in order. My favourite digital application right now is the Apple Calendar together with the Reminders app. In my calendar, I structure my day using time blocking, while keeping track of my to-dos in Reminders via split screen. Super convenient, giving me a clear overview of my day and peace of mind (without it, I’d probably forget half of everything haha).

What makes you a digital enthusiast?

What I love about the digital world is that you can find information anywhere, anytime. I often think about all sorts of things, and sometimes the most random questions pop into my head. Then it’s super handy that you can look them up right away, instead of endlessly searching through books. It just makes life a lot easier.

What is your biggest digital irritation?

Having to create an account on sites where it's completely unnecessary. Especially when I'm doing literature research. I just want to read an article, not go through a whole registration process…

Where do you come from?

I grew up in Hoogvliet, a district of Rotterdam, and I still live there. The great thing is that I can be in the heart of Rotterdam in just half an hour, where I also study. My roots are in both the Netherlands and Suriname.

What is your background?

I've been creative ever since I was a kid, starting with drawing and crafting. Later, I designed logos, made videos and vlogs, and spent hours in The Sims creating funny characters and decorating houses. Music is also part of my creative side: I play piano and a bit of guitar. Being creative has always felt natural to me, and I wanted to do something that could make the world a little better. That's why I chose to study Communication and Multimedia Design, where I can combine my creativity with modern technology.

What is your specialty at TodayTomorrow?

My specialty is my empathy: I can easily put myself in other people's shoes and look at things from different perspectives. By working in a user-centered way, I always strive to understand what a user truly needs, so I can create designs that align with what people really want and need.

Where does your drive come from?

My drive comes from the idea that what I create will actually be used and can make someone's day easier or more enjoyable. I get a lot of energy from helping others, making an impact, and constantly developing and challenging myself.

What is another dream of yours?

Exploring the world, experiencing different cultures, and discovering all the beauty that’s still out there.

What's something nice about you that most people don't know?

I grew up in the 2000s, but I have a soft spot for music from the '80s and '90s. Sometimes I think it would have been fun to have been born back then; life seemed so much more carefree. Maybe that's also because I'm a bit of an old soul and love nostalgia.
