My name is Jeffrey in ‘t Veld. I am currently in the last year of my bachelor's degree in Communication and Multimedia Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Rotterdam.
I like to describe myself as a data-driven and empathic designer. I love to analyze data and human behavior and believe in tailor-fit solutions for real people.
My favorite digital application at the moment is Notion. I recently started using Notion to organize different projects and am in love with the versatility of the software. It allows me to collect and structure information in ways that make sense to me.
I like making stuff, digital technology and tools enabled me to do that. I’ve always had a big interest in technology and have always been naturally curious about how technology of all kinds work. Learning about technology is like a never-ending rabbit hole, the digital world and the rapid adoption of digital tools into human lives gives me endless room for exploring both technological and human interactions and that fascinates me.
My biggest digital irritation would be error messages that don’t help me find a solution. As a user, I appreciate help when it comes to troubleshooting. Empowering the user is a core principle in my approach to design, so helping them with troubleshooting might be boring, but does embody that principle.
I am mostly Dutch but have some Greek genetics in my from my moms side. I grew up in Dordrecht, but study and work in Rotterdam.
I have a background in Motion Design and video editing which I did for fun as a teenager. I followed that up with studying Communication and Multimedia Design to become a user experience designer/digital product designer.
Right now my specialty is deep diving into different kinds of research and translating abstract ideas into more actionable insights. During my graduation project that I’m doing at TodayTomorrow, my focus is mainly on looking for new insights and approaches for research and development for an ongoing project.
I like helping people and enjoy creating things. Empathy plays a big role in my motivation as a designer, talking with people about what issues they run into fuels my curiosity for research and makes me want to problem solve with and for my target group.
The biggest driver of creative thinking for me is reframing. Collecting solutions from different contexts or industries and using those solutions to solve problems in a new context teaches me a lot about the approach to problem-solving in different environments. I find that this helps me a lot with creating a more holistic worldview and helps me get out of the tech bubble that I sometimes find myself in as a designer.
I helped most of my friends get into fitness and even coached a few in the sport of powerlifting. I still take great interest in the sport and love helping people reach strength goals.
