My name is Teije Keesmaat and I am a digital designer at TodayTomorrow. I design apps and other digital products that are not only beautiful, but also logical and pleasant to use. Solving problems through an app or website and truly helping people with it is something I really enjoy. That is something I want to do in the best way possible.
I’m a big fan of AI. It allows me to do things much faster and also better, which means I can focus more on the things I really enjoy. What I like the most is that it can give an immediate answer to questions, where you used to have to open all kinds of different websites. In addition, as someone who couldn’t program, I was able to release my own running app, Runamigo. Something I would never have done if AI didn’t exist.
It simply makes life a lot easier and also more fun. Although I also really enjoy being outdoors, almost everything is possible in the digital world. Within a few seconds I know the answer to a question, I can learn new things and create beautiful things. I also find it super handy to automate things, and later on I want to make my house completely smart as well, so everything runs automatically.
Something that has been irritating me for years is Apple’s Siri. It’s such a useful feature, but it could do so much more than it does now. It’s super annoying when you ask a simple question and it responds with “this is what I found on the web.” Luckily, I recently got a new iPhone where ChatGPT works together with Siri, so this doesn’t happen as often anymore. Hopefully the renewed smart Siri will also be released this year. I’m very curious about that.
I was born in Waddinxveen and still live there. In between, I lived in Cape Town for half a year for an internship, and very briefly in Den Bosch in the final year of my studies.
In Den Bosch I studied Applied Geo-Information Science. A study in which geography, data, and digital applications come together. I chose this because geography was my favorite subject and I wanted to do something creative. Here I discovered that designing was what I enjoyed the most. At first also infographics and logos, but eventually I realized that designing apps and websites suits me best, and I specialized in UX/UI design.
My specialty lies in designing digital products that make sense. I don’t just look at how something looks, but also at how it’s used. I can put myself in someone else’s shoes well to understand what someone needs at the moment they use an app or website. In addition, I find it important that a product feels pleasant without you having to think about it. By creating my own app, I can also better understand how things work technically.
I like to do things as well as possible, and at the same time I think enjoyment is super important. When I enjoy doing something, I also really want to be good at it. In addition, I really like having things “finished” and being able to check them off.
I think it would be really awesome to one day make a long road trip in my own converted van (which I still need to get first). The free feeling of being able to go wherever you want, being in nature, sleeping in places where you normally wouldn’t be able to sleep, and surfing a lot at beautiful beaches. I want to see as much of the world as possible, because there is still so much to discover. Ideally, I would like to have been everywhere at least once.
I love adventurous activities that involve adrenaline. For example, in South Africa I did one of the highest bungee jumps in the world. I also really enjoy surfing. During vacations I prefer hiking the highest mountain, and I enjoy climbing as well. If it’s something adventurous, I’m always in!
