For many farmers, weeding is a time-consuming and labor-intensive task. Rotterdam-based startup Odd.Bot developed an innovative solution: an autonomous agricultural robot that removes weeds in an environmentally friendly way, without the use of chemical pesticides. We designed and developed the companion app, which allows farmers to always have their robot within reach and easily monitor and control it remotely.

Farmers
They need simple operation, with clear buttons and easy-to-understand settings.
It should be instantly clear at a glance what’s happening whenever the robot displays an error message.
A farmer should be able to use the robot both online and offline.

Farmers get a clear overview of field performance at a glance, including progress and battery status. This allows them to intervene immediately when needed. By translating complex technology into a clear dashboard, operating the robot feels natural and straightforward. At the same time, farmers can configure the settings in detail for optimal use. Everything revolves around trust, control, and convenience, so farmers can focus on what truly matters: a healthy harvest.

With smart and user-friendly design solutions, we made the app’s operation and monitoring simple and intuitive for every farmer. Because the technology behind the robot is complex, we worked closely with Odd.Bot’s technical team in a co-creation process. We tested in the field while the Product Owner tried out the app live, allowing us to implement and refine changes immediately. An inspiring collaboration of technology and design that directly supports farmers in their daily work with the robot.

Through a direct connection with the robot, the system communicates via a local network. It was developed according to the “local first” principle, ensuring that all essential functions continue to work even without an internet connection. Thanks to the Internet of Things connection, the robot continuously exchanges data with the app, including location, status, and performance. Through the built-in remote control, users can adjust settings and operate the robot remotely. This makes the app a convenient tool for the entire Odd.Bot system.

Again and again, farmers tell us: what a delight that the app works so effortlessly.

What works technically, should also be easy for the farmer to understand.
A technical integration was created in a very short time to test directly in the field, right next to the robot.
